NUANS® is an acronym that stands for Newly Upgraded Automated Name Search. It is a computerized search system that compares prospective business or corporate names to a database of existing, reserved and proposed corporate names and trademarks in all of Canada, except the Province of Quebec. Corporations must complete and submit an Initial Return to the Companies and Personal Property Security Branch within 60 days after the date of incorporation, amalgamation or continuation. After filing an Initial Return, corporations must complete and submit a Notice of Change to the CPPSB within 15 days after any change takes place (e.g., when a corporation changes its address, directors or officers). No, a lawyer is not required when registering with EQBR. All applications will take a maximum of 2 business days to submit to the Ontario government. The Ontario government may take up to 1 week to process the application and about a week to mail the result of the application from Toronto.
